I think that if you disable the EGR system and air recirculation system you'll hit the major items. That can be as simple as blocking the vacuum lines to these devices. The electronics and vacuum switches can stay in place with no ill effect.
I'm pretty sure there is no electronic control of the vacuum singal to the transmission. I don't know if there's any benefit to fitting the other style air cleaner in place of the remote air cleaner used in trap oxider applications. You have removed the trap oxidizer, right? I think the California versions of the 85 300D and 300SD had different transmission gearing. That will require a replacement transmission to un-California-ize. Sixto 91 300SE 87 300SDL 83 300SD |

You DON'T want to TOTALLY disable the EGR . . . install a VACUUM DELAY VALVE to allow the turbo to develope MORE low end boost . . .

My mechanic told me that there is no benefit in disabling the EGR on the CA version car.
The CA version has a different tranny than the earlier models, including a different torque converter for better off the line performance. I've owned two 1985 300CD's and always thought the CA version was the best. Gotta love that neck snapping off the line burnout................LOL. Craig

If I ever lose my torque converter, it seems that it would be nice to replace it with a CA version... Just some brainstorming

Hmmmm, I don't know. I had my previous CD up to just over 100mph,, I haven't gotten the 'new' CD past 89mph, and that took a bit of time because my turbo isn't putting out enough psi (need to fix this asap).
I'm really not that familiar with all the details of the CA versions, but I know the tranny shares the same numbers with the MB 190's. Craig
