Mobil Delvac

I would use Mobil Delvac or Mobil 1, with a OEM MB filter

Well, in past experiences the slippery kind of oil seems to work best. I would buy it by the quart. A good grade of cheesecloth seems to be the universal filter capable of stopping most big chunks of dirt. Do you have a local Wal-mart?

Sorry.......I could not resist.

Oh no!! Not another OIL thread! Please do a search on the topic. This dead horse has been beaten so many times it is past putrid pulp. Get yourself a diesel-rated oil and any filter with a German name and your car will be happy. Please don't post what oil you chose as this will result in another "oil war". RT

You can buy the oil filters (Hengst, MANN, Mahle) at Fastlane. Oil, you can buy at any Walmart. The most common conventional oil used by people here is either Chevron Delo 400 15W-40 or Mobil Delvac 15W-40. Both of these are available at your local Walmart. For synthetic, most people use either regular Mobil 1 15W-50 or Mobil 1's diesel oil, Delvac 1. This Delvac oil is not as readily available as reg. Mobil 1 15W-50. As someone has already mentioned, oil is a hottly debated subject, and usually starts a p#!%ing match of opinions. It is really simple, use what your owner's manual says to use.

my apologies, I didn't realize that posting a simple question would cause so much drama...

the sarcasm was a nice touch, silly me, i thought that this forum was for discussions about matters involving our diesels. well, forgive me for asking a question about MY diesel. It just came into my hands, and I want to take good care of it and I don't want to use ****ty products for regular maintanace..

for those of you who offered suggestions, i thank you,

for those of you who offered only sarcasm and rudeness, i appreciate it...

Sorry Gordon, I could not resist. Besides I knew someone would chime in with good advice. Good luck with your Benz. Don't be afraid to ask any question whatsoever on this forum. I didn't mean to ruin it for you.
