Check out-1984 280 TE Wagon on Ebay (!?) w/ Airbag (!!)
I know its not a diesel..but......sure resembles the mighty 300td:
I am suspicious.....An airbag-equipped w123??- in 1984 for that matter! Hmm............ -Miles

That is definitely a European import. A US model of year 1984 would have a VIN like "WDBA" instead of "WDB123".

I can remember hearing about a select few, late 123s from Europe could be had with an SRS air bag. Airbags, believe it or not have been around since the sixties, and became available on Merceces sometime in the early eighties in Europe. I't possible.
