Don;t know about diesel's. But I use Mystery Oil in my 94 E500 and so does run.exe (Scott), and we are both happy.

This stuff has great press and a cult following... I do not know about the claims of " top end lubrication"... never could understand it...
I use the Air tool Marvel oil for air tools... |

I have a metalic rap in my engine and a Mercedes tech
recommended Marvel Mystery oil in the crankcase. He said it is amazing how much varnish and shellac builds up. I put some in and the noise seems to be a little softer. Haven't driven far yet. |

Better cure for noisy lifters in a 60x engine is to replace the two little o-rings on the center shaft of the oil filter cover. They are not it in new filter box for some reason, and when they get old and hard, they leak, reducing pressure in the lifter gallery. It leaks down overnight, so that the tappets are "flat" the next morning. Can take quite a while to pump up.
Marvel is a high detergent solvent mix, it will remove varnish and sludge, but you won't have any if you are either changing dino oil every 3000 miles or using synthetics. I strongly recommend one or the other -- both the old Chevy vans at work have more than 300000 miles on them, with no engine work! Oil is changed at Speedy Oiler every 3000 miles. Peter

psfred: I agree with what you say however in my case due to
unusual circumstances I am only able to drive the car to the store and back[about 1 to 2 miles] And this AM I noticed a definite improvement in the metalic rap due to using Marvel Mystery oil. |

I used to use Marvel in a '55 (yes five five) Plymouth. It wouldn't run good without it.
Never tried it in my Diesels, they run good without it. P E H |

Well,, this does seem to add up... proper hydraulic lifter action can sure be affected by varnish build up... so if this is good at dissolving that then it would be felt in the seat of the pants....

PEH, Did you use it in any '05 (yes oh five ) automobiles ? You were probably still driving them in '54 (yes five four) when you bought that new '55 (yes five five).

Leather,
That's zero five. Don't know a ZERO (numerical character) from an OH (alphabetic character) ? And the '55 Plymouth was 7 years old when I bought it, not new. P E H |

I thought maybe you splurged just once in your life celebrating coaxing 57 years out of that other car.... What was I thinking ?
I should have used zeroh, that covers both of them. |
