115 shift point adjustment
Have done some searching but find most everything relates to 123's and modulator valves, neither of which I have.
So, I think it shifts too early, then the engine rpms drop really low after the shift and it feels like it is lugging. I want to increase the rpm point of the shift and get a more Positive shift. Is it possible to get that combo? Where do I adjust lenght of the rod and which way do I adjust? Do I adjust the rod at the engine connection or down at the tranny? Thanks much.

Put your foot down further, and check to make sure you have both the front and rear bushing in place -- if one is missing, it will upshfit too fast.
I'd not adjust the shift rod without the equipment to measure control pressure, it is possible on this tranny to over-pressure it with resultant severe damage by miss-adjusting the control rod. Peter

No modulator valve
If by modulator valve you mean the gizmo that fits on the side of the tranny and works off vacume. I thought all MB autos of that vintage have one.

I'm pretty certain it does not have a modulator, I could be wrong though. I believe 123's were the first diesels to have vacuum assisted shifting. Thanks psfred, I'm really glad I didn't go monkeying around in there like I almost did. I'll have my mechanic check it out. Thanks for the sub-frame response too. Josh

No vacuum modulator until the 3-speed behind the 6.3 and 3.5 L V8s. The earlier ones were like the Torqueflite -- mechanical links only.
Those trannies are notorious for upshifting too fast anyway. Just put it in 2 and manually upshift later if it really bothers you. It also usually won't downshift unless you floor it and hold the kickdown switch closed. Just the nature of the beast. Peter
