Glowplugs

I just replaced Glowplug #1 and #5.

Now #1 has gone out again.

Is this just bad luck or is there something else wrong?

Swap 2 with 1 and see what happens ...

Don't know if it is possible to overvoltage?

Mine are in series, so swaping will do me no good. I guess I should make a jumper. Correct?

I would rather just replace the glow plugs.

Sigh as usual....

Ground is opening up improperly downstream, or short at the plug. Did you ream the holes? Think of the ceramic washer as Goldilocks: has to be mounted and tightened just right. Too tight and you'll crack it and create a short path. If "gone out" means the loop is breaking then you either have a chunk in the pre-chamber or a drippy injector.

PiP,

A better description of "gone out" would be the: GP has an open circuit (infinite resistance) or is shorted (no resistance). Using these technical terms make it easier to diagnose your problem.

As far as a bad injector causing the problem, try switching the injectors between cylinder #1 and #2 and see if the problem follows.

It was a drippy injector.
Think I got it fixed.
Thanks for the help though.

Now on to the ACC system...
