w124 diesels and diagnostic codes

I was wondering if the w124 diesels (87 300D + 300D 2.5's) have the same or similiar method for a scan tool to read diagnostics like the gasoline models do? If they have a diagnositc port will a OBD I scan tool like the OTC 2000/4000 read the codes - assuming one is able to purchase the correct Mercedes module

Also, was the bad wiring harness's limited to the petro w124's or does it also affect some of the diesel models?

The 2.5s might have standardized diagnostics. I'm pretty sure the 87s don't. Certainly nothing OBD compatible in the 87s.
