Weapons of Choice? Drain Cleaning!

Though I am certain I have not yet located all of the drains on my '87 300TD, as I do I have tried to think of an existing device to make the job more thorough. Unless I have missed something, there are two fairly long runs from the rear of the sunroof to the tailgate hinge area. If so, has anyone located a tool providing a brush with a flexible yet stable run. Ideas???
Thanks
Steve

I bought a plastic snake at the hardware store the other day. It is designed for sink drain and is not that long (about 3ft) and less than a quarter inch in diameter. It could be attached to a small metal snake to extend its reach. The tip was offset about 30 degrees to allow for cleaning a tube as it was turned. It would be an ideal tool if it were long enough but I think it could be adapted to this use.

I use heavy weed-eater cord. It works OK.

Lightbulb drain cleaning

For short money, go to walmart or some such place and hit the bicycle section...........purchase (or steal) a brand new bicycle cable for the brakes......cheap at something like 4 0r 5 dollars.....

Ok, don't steal one.............if you do happen to be that cheap, then find a junk bike on the side of the road and take one of the cable HOUSINGS and use that as a reamer.

I smash the end down so as to allow a sort of point and just use it like a bung hole reamer.

Works great.

See ya.

Had to chuckle about the bike cable housing . . . just hung an old bike on a hook in my garage rather than toss it in tomorrow's refuse/recycle (no pun intended). Now I know what made me change my mind. I'll remove the cable housing and add it to my "special" Mercedes tools. So far, between that and the "snake" I'll be able to service these drains.
Thanks
Steve
