Question Transmission crossmember needed

Does anyone have a lead on a transmission crossmember for the rear mount?

I need one to fit a 123 chassis that I'm putting a manual 4 speed together with a 300d turbo.

You can't use a regular 240 one because the frame of the car tapers inward as it goes back those 4 inches. I had one in my euro parts car but during a tranny yank one year ago, we've lost track of it. I'll take a 2 bolt or a 4 bolt version.

Thanks

Don

Thanks for the offer, but that one won't work. As the 5 cylinder is dropped in, it moves the entire tranny rearward 4 inches due to the extra cylinder. It would bolt up fine except for the car frame tapering inward.

I have one like yours and may be forced to modify it.

Thanks again,

Don

Greetings, I just finished my 300Dt auto to a 5spd conversion and also had to deal with the tranny bracket situation. my solution was to add 1/4" x 2" or 2 1/2" x 7" (i think) steel extenders to each side of the tranny bracket to make it line up with the rubber mount as it should. I had to fasten the steel pieces to the chassis clips with coutersunk flat head machine bolts (allen socket) to avoid overlap problems with the tranny mount fasteners. hope this helps. cheers, mark

I appreciate the help. A little more detail might help as I can't conceptualize what you did.

My tranny crossmember extends beyond the holes in the chassis by about 1/2-1" on either side. Did you just bolt your steel connectors from the tranny crossmember back to the holes in the chassis?

dear d.d., maybe I responded too quickly... I guess I misunderstood that your trans mount bracket was too wide for the new application. In my case I anticipated using the 240d manual trans bracket for the 300dt conversion but couldn't because it was too wide so I went back to the automatic trans bracket which was now too narrow for the new transmission. thats when I made the steel pieces as a "bridge" on each side of the tunnel. worked out well. cheers, mark

Thanks for the help along the way!
