I’m probably paranoid, but I like to hear a little mechanical noise. What bothers me is the wind whistles. While I’m thinking about it – I love vent windows, and once swore I’d never buy a car without them. When Mercedes did away with them I’d see a lot of those air deflectors – I’d say ugly, but wouldn’t want to offend anyone. Are they still available? Do they work? I can’t find any and am driven to drive around with my window rolled down.

I used DynaMat Extreme all ove rthe inside of my truck and that did wonders...but was expensive........I was thinking about doing my cars with the Fatmat too due to price...but haven't tried it yet. Would love my cars to be as quiet as possible on the highway....the W116 needs it more than the W123 however.

I just cut some 1" foam with aluminum facing up for my MB's new hoodliner but I haven't glued it into position. It was purchased for a reasonable price at McMaster's site.

sound deadener
the item for sale on e-bay is $62(that's the one wiith aluminum foil)this item is not oem but made in europe for mercedes. i have this on all my 300d's, i also sprayed the same polymer on my coupe. i sprayed the eng firewall and underneath the hood(just before i glued the pad), couldn't really tell cuz my coupe has a semi-custom exhaust, it's already louder than stock. the polymer is really a good product, expensive though!, i've used it inside some of my cars, and it does make a difference. plus it's water base-easy clean-up, but it dries like really hard-hard rubber.
for the guy from stockton, i usually get my parts from a&f in oakland(wholesale shop) for $62(no shipping)........john |

A very similiar polymer, water clean up is available at McMaster as a 5 gallon bucket as these other places are looking for with just 1 gallon. I have no first hand knowledge with it though, from what I hear the most cost effective sound insulator is... well from Home Depot. There is an adhesive backed, aluminum faced, asphalt based type stuff in a roll like 6" wide and pretty darn long for $16, it is called Peal'n'Seal.
