IDI diesel models/years
I am trying to determine which Mercedes years/models/engines are Indirect Injection (IDI) and which are Direct injection(DI) for a Vegoil fuel forum. This is due to the fact that IDI engines may be more compatible long term with the use of Strait Vegetable Oil (SVO) or Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) as an alternative fuel.
So can anyone help me out here? If not is there a link or other forum that might be able to? Thanks in advance. And if anyone has any questions about vegoil fuel use please feel free to contact me directly. I don't know all the answers...but I know many. Dana danalinscott@yahoo.com

Pretty much anything that MB built that does not have the CDI engine will be an IDI engine. The first MB CDI's are supposed to arrive stateside for the 04 model year.

A lot of MB commercial vans had direct injections diesels. The 70's and 80's 508, 608 etc all had direct injection motors I believe. I think the motor numbers were 314 or 352. Someone may correct those numbers.

It matters where you are. MB doesn't offer any passenger car Diesels in the US at this time and up to this time all MB passenger car Diesels have been IDI. The E320 CDI won't start delivery in the US until the spring of 2004. If you're outside the US, lucky you.
