Dash Pad removal and replace?

Car has a dash pad -- which looks pretty great if you ask me. Question:

When they placed the dash pad (or dash cover) they didn't seat it quite right (I'm anal) around the glove box, so the right side of the glove box door get's caught to the point where it must have broken a small corner off the inside of the door.

I want to know what is involved in peeling this thing off and then re-seating it properly. Are these the kinds of things that are good for crap if you take them off and then try to put them on again or what?

Thanks,

GD

That's what I was affraid of.

I think I'll focus on the vac. pump and get everything working mechanically before I deal with this.

I would try gently heating up an edge or corner with a hair dryer or heat gun and pull up an edge.

If that did not work, I would try to find out what adhesive was used and then a find a solvent that would loosen it. The trouble with this might be that something outside the cover might get damaged by the solvent so it would be a last resort.

Dash cover

Be prepared to replace it.

I just got a coverlay a few weeks ago, and it just plain doesnt fit around the glove compartment, period. Odesnt fit that well anywhere, actually. Itll sit on the dash without adhesive if placed right, but will have high and low spots. So even if you get it off, I wouldnt count on having it 100% perfect.

Probably your best bet is heat to not only get the adhesive off, but to 'train' sertain areas to go out or in a bit to better fit.
