97 E300D Injector Return Lines
I have had my new (to me) E300D for about 5 weeks now, and have begun to perform the required maintenance. Oil, Fiters, Fluids, etc.
I noticed that the PO had not had the injector return lines replaced during his 6 years of ownership (and dealer maintenace). I can see some "cigar hose" peeking out from under that formidable intake manifold, so I know it's there. Anyone hasve experience in installing new return lines on a non-turbo E300D? I changed them every year on my 300SDL, does the E300D have a different requirement? Tom Kanis 87 300SDL 190K ("the Scharnhorst") 97 E300D 85K Black Opal (not yet named) |

Changed my 95 E300 last saturday. It take about 4 foot of hose . You need to remove the intake air horn then the plastic cover on top of the engine. Not rocket science just time consuming.

Tom,
Why did you replace the injector return lines so often? Seems like they should last at least 10 years if they don't have to be removed to R&R the injectors. I would never replace them before I noticed a leak. I don't fix it if it ain't broke. P E H |

I've never replaced my return lines. I keep waiting for them to leak. But, so far, dry as a bone. I have other things to do other than fix something that ain't broke, as P E H said. Because of the age of the car, I have 2 feet of hose ready to go, however.
