Question about motor mounts and water pumps....

Hi,
I'm about ready to take my 300D to my mechanic to have a number of things fixed: front sway bar bushings, brakes, motor mounts, water pump. I have the rubber sway bar bushings and brake parts, but I need to order the motor mounts and a water pump from FastLane to have all the parts I need (I save a bit of money by buying the parts myself). I have a few questions about the parts on FastLane. First, is the Geba water pump any good? And is the price of $63 about right? Second, what parts (and how many of them) do I need to do the motor mounts and shocks? FastLane has "Motor Mounts," "Engine Shocks," "Engine Shock Mounts," and "Engine Vibration Dampers." Lastly, anything else I should have my mechanic do to prep my car for the winter? I kindly thank you for the help.

Alex

Its difficult to reply here because of all the possible factors. I'm assuming that you are trying to rid your MB of excessive vibration.

What I have found is that its often the simple things which cause it. A person can replace shocks, engine mounts, engine shocks, etc and still have the same feel. So I would start with the simple things:

Rack dampner pin. 80% of the time, this has been the culprit in my cars. Do a search. It sits on the aft of the IP and can be turned in or out to smooth out your vibration.

Regarding the water pump, that is the one I recently ordered and its near what I paid for it. I'm assuming you have a leak there?

Thanks for the reply. Actually, the vibration in my car isn't too terrible, just a little shakey at start up. I'd like to replace the motor mount apparatus anyway though because I have a little extra cash and would like to do it before I come to a point where I have to replace them and I don't have any extra cash. Regarding the water pump, my car's temps fluctuate between 85 and 100 so I'm going to have my mechanic replace the radiator and water pump and flush the system.
