My 1979 300SD is showing 315,402, however, I was going through all the old service records from ******** Montclair, 5566 Holt Blvd., (where the car was bought new by Operators Vending Service, 650 S. Avenue 21, Los Angeles, CA., on 07/31/1978) and I discovered that the car was serviced by European Motors Mercedes-Benz 17964 Ventura Blvd., Encino, CA., on 01/11/1985 with 750,000 miles indicated on the service receipt. I also found an oil service receipt for the car in 1989 with 913,411 miles and another dated 04/17/1992 that listed the mileage as 103,457.

By the time I got the car in 1997, it had 242,321 miles on the odometer, and, if the chronology of this old paperwork is correct, the car's actual mileage is 1,315,402!!!!!!!!!

361,000 SDL

Just returned from another 2,500 trip through the desert southwest. Eighteenth such trip this year alone. Ambient temps from 50*F to 118*F. Sea level to 7,000 feet finishing off rolling 75-80mph through the Mojave Desert.

Replaced trans at around 280k just because there where multiple leaks that would cost almost the same to fix them with R&R of trans.

Little later... replaced v. pump, water pump, center driveline bearing, rolled on a new timing chain, etc... Added a trans cooler and lower thermostat for the desert heat....just routine stuff.

Best upgrade: Tinted the windows. Huge help with the limited A/C performance when the temps outside get over 100*F.

Cool thing is I don't think twice about taking off for long trips. With a little common sense and TLC these things just roll & roll & roll:)

P.S. Tips from this group make it easy to keep it rolling!

1982 300SD = 172,800
1985 190D = 164,350
1986 300SDL = 285,400

These things are tanks....

440,800 on my 1980 300 TD. It was given to me at 390,000 with a dying rebuilt transmission. I put in a rebuilt from Valley in southern California.

750,000 miles in the first seven years and three months, that is close to 300 miles every day. Was it a taxi? ;-)

Are there indications the car has done 1,315,402 miles? And does it have the original engine and transmission?

My '85 had a broken odometer for approx 10 years before I got it - odo says 203K now, but probably between 250,000 and 300,000 miles. '97 has 189K on it now, looking forward to plenty of miles in that one too.

I test drove some that had over 300K on the original engines and they were real dogs.
