Adjusting injection pump on 85 300SD????
Old 300SD is running a little rough. Does anybody know does
that little bolt adjustment screw in toward the pump???? Or does it screw out, towards the dash. I tried screwing it out and it seemed to smoth the idle. Car only has 182,000miles on it and now seems to smoke a little. Should the adjustment help???? Or is there something else???? Thanks in advance.... |

Nikodem60,
Some think that replacing the fuel filters is a panasea for many auto ills, but it isn't. If you can get enough fuel thru the fuel filters for full power operation, replacing them will gain you nothing. P E H |

My 300SD has fairly new injectors. Does anybody know how to adjust the injection pump adjustment???? Does it screw in or out???? I have tried SEA FOAM as a injector cleaner, it seems to work the best for diesel cars.

Found a vacum line that had come loose, but still running
rough. I thought maybe it was the injection pump adjustment. A friend years ago told me how to adjust it, but can't remember what he showed me now. I guess nobody has made this adjustment... |

Um, no, you're not getting replies because this is a question that has been covered ad nauseum in the past. Use the "search" feature of the forum. Hint: Your engine mounts may be the problem, not the IP. Also, unless your "new" injectors were pressure matched by a diesel shop, that may be part of the cause of a rough idle - you can't just buy 5 new nozzles and screw them in, they're often off by more than 5 bar (you want 3 bar or less between them all). There is no simple adjustment like you're looking for - but I think you're referring to the rack damper, which again, you'll want to use the search feature for.
Good luck, |
