87 300D Driver's Power Seat Question
The driver's power seat on my 1987 300D has one non-working function right now. You can move the seat forward-backward, tilt, headrest up/down but cannot get the rear portion to go up/down. The seat-cushion button will move the front part of the seat up and down, but the rear portion will not move at all. I can hear the relays clicking under the seat when the switch is operated, but nothing moves. I was checking everything out last night under the seat and kept moving the switch and the seat back did move up slightly, but now is back to clicking again. Any thoughts on this one?
Thanks.

If there is NOT something (ball point pen, pencil, etc.) caught in the gear, then I expect that the cable that operates the side opposite the motor has popped out and is turning freely so only one side it trying to move. This is a very common failure. Sometimes the old cable can be retained, held in place with a couple of cable ties and sometimes a new cable is required.
