size of nut on alternator adj. bolt

I have misplace the large nut used in adjusting the alternator and would like to rig up a temp nut/washer to hold the alt in place. Anybody know what size nut would fit on the adjuster treaded rod used on the alt. The car is a 84 300D.
Thanks everybody for your help in getting to the problem of no dash lights. Will tear into the dash this weekend. This board rocks
