KBB shows only about $2000 retail value, about $1000 private party value. That is what most INS companies are going to go with. Unless you car is way above "average" you will have difficulty getting any more. You will need to do the research and document with photos and reciepts that your car is above average.
If you can make your case and hold out a few weeks, the INS will settle. Adjusters have several cases at any one time. Their supervisors are on their case about "open" claims. The adjuster is under pressure...not you. Call the state insurance commissioner, that will get the INS company's attention fast. Your claim is chump change. Now a brand new $50,000+ car or injury claim is much different.
