Sorry

Did you get rid of the k&n? If yes, may I ask you why? Did you experience any problems or was it from readings on how inefficient they're at preventing dirt from entering the engine?

Did you see any difference going back after the k&n?

Went back very quickly. My engine ran like cr@p with it. Mostly it was too small but I was very glad to get rid of it once I started researching them.

That looks real nice! How has it held up? Did you weld on new AN fittings to the oil cooler and to the metal lines? Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know the fittings used by Mercedes on the oil cooler are not standard types. I believe the AN fittings you used are same as JIC fittings?

yeah exactly, cut of the fittings in the middle, and then cut the AN male male nipple in half. Then welded (TIG) that on the oil cooler and the oc lines.

Its been over 4 yrs with no problems.

Very little that isn't stock on the SDL.

The wheels for one, I have a set of X drilled rotors on the back, soon to have a matching set on the front. I replaced the entire sound system down to the wires, and will probably upgrade it again. My friend has a 1 year old $800 head unit that broke so he put a new one in his truck, I'm going to send it out to Pioneer to get fixed. Then I'm going to add an amp, and better rear speakers.

My next "mod" will be a set of stainless brake lines.

On mine:

Replaced ash tray (no smoking here) with a self-made gauge pod, with a lighted Voltmeter, 12V socket, and a Boost Gauge.

Radio: the original is junk. Put in a high end Kenwood MP3/USB/Satellite/HD Radio capable unit + satellite radio tuner in trunk, it sounds great and looks very good in the dash.

Brakes: ATE Power discs on the front, will be cross drilled ones next time

Wipers: Michelin "single arm" wiper blades, equal contact pressure, they wipe awesome

Headlight bulbs "upgraded" Philips Ultra-Blue....produces a very white light, very nice bulbs considering they are $13.

All fluids to synthetics, including the power steering and differential.

Exhaust: 2.5" straight pipe from the turbo to the rear bumper. Painted with 4 coats of High-temp black grill paint...looks/sounds awesome.

Entry: Remote locking system locks/unlocks the driver door lock and thus activates the rest of the locks. It also blinks all the marker lights when doing so. No more dealing with frozen key-lock in the winter.

Manual control of the reverse lights. Really helps get those tail-gaters to get back.

Brake lights: Brake light mod with rear fogs as brake lights PLUS an additional RED LED bar in the top center of the rear window. Very bright light. Incredible brake light output on our cars.

Glow system: Duraterm bosch plugs + extended glow relay.

Trailer hitch (coveted receiver type)

I think thats about all for the "upgrades"....if it included repairs this list would be 10x as long.

In the future I'd like to add stainless brake lines like Hatterasguy mentioned. As well as Euro lights and maybe 15" stock (SEL/SDL) wheels someday if I can find a good set. And a high output alternator.... Lots of other things too....just can't think of them right now.

Good information here -

wiring diagram needed for 2006 rearview mirror

I understand you can use a 202 or late 140 base directly in a 124, or get a mirror that will snap onto the ball at the end of the 124 post. The mirror I have has a ball rather than socket so I can't use the 124 post. I left the post off and glued a lug to the windshield.

If I had read pmari's post, I'd have done something nicer but what I have is there and it works :/

I put a N/A 300D radiator, oil cooler and lines and the 300D viscus fan on my '77 240D. Sure runs cool in the summer with the air on and is a whole lot quieter from the cooling fan!

The 300SD is bone stock. As for the 300D...

Since acquiring it in October 2004,
I've installed jack hole plugs for the W201 in the jack holes to protect against corrosion and rust (2006), a manual OE Hirschmann antenna to replace the inop automatic unit (2005), Euro headlights with H4s and selective yellow H3s in the fogs along with other vacuum adjustable associated equipment (2007), Euro dark amber turn signal lenses (2005), Blaupunkt Laguna CD36 headunit to replace the crappy Sony CDX-4250 that was stolen by a crackhead (2007), zebrano shifter knob, wheelskin leather steering wheel cover, and sheepskin seatcovers (all in 2005), LEDs in the domelights, license plate lamps and ACC lighting (2006) (I will be switching back to incadescents due to high failure rate of the LEDs), removed EGR associated vacuum line plumbing (2005), synthetic fluids in the transmission and power steering (2006-07) and that's about it.

Possible upgrades for Dec. 2007 and beyond:
Coconut fibre or OE floormats (leaning more towards Cocomats for their longetivity), XM satellite radio, tweeters in the a-pillars, new rubber on the doors and trunk, Euro lamp wiper washer kit, larger windshield washer fluid bottle, avantgarde style grille update, new coolant reservoir bottle, motor mounts, new driveshaft mount, new paint job, refinished rims, new rim centercaps.

I don't really like the auto-dimming mirror in my 210. It dims so much that you can't tell if there is a light bar on the car behind you. It is not adjustable. If it were, it would be great. If I can figure out a way to mount an unobtrusive control, I may make it adjustable by biasing the sensors.

FIRE EXTINGUISHER BRACKET & BUCKET AND w124 ODDMENT BOX

Over Christmas I put the fire extinguisher bucket on the passengers side, and the (w124) oddments box on the drivers side.

I had to modify the brackets in both cases from sedan fitment to coupe fitment (Im guessing).

Anyone have a fire extinguisher for me?
