OM 617 Glow Plugs - 11 vs. 11.5 volt

OM 617.9 motors were originally equipped with 11 volt glow plugs. Several years ago Bosch/Beru switched to a 11.5 volt design.

Are the 11.5 v plugs interchangeable with the old style or should all plugs be converted to 11.5 v when a failure is noted in a motor equipped with 11 v plugs?

The Monark plugs I just pulled out were marked 11.5v.

The NEW Bosch I just bought with the latest style tapered tip are marked 11V.

As long as they are somewhere between 10 and 13v, I don't think it matters one bit!

jg/1,

Since your GP are connected in parallel, each one works independently, so it doesn't matter if all are not rated for the same votage.

If they were series connected GP, they should all be the same so the voltage and power is distributed equally.

Good point, they should be matched if series (older than '80 or so?)
