The VW engine is in a 1983 Audi 4000S Turbo Diesel. An extremely rare car according to the factory - so its coming off the road and a 300cd is being purchased soon to become the daily driver.

Warmed up to - 15C today Wahoo!

Cheers

A cousin of mine used to use one of those thick additives until he had a bad incident with one. He poured it in after changing the oil and it got sucked into the oil pump and clogged the oil pump screen such that no oil could get through, he ended up needing a new oil pump and all that good stuff. Moral, if you insist on using additives such as this make sure that either the motor is already warm or the stuff in the bottle is.

I'm pleased to report that my car does start a lot easier with 0W-40 in cold weather. Of course there's also the soot factor which typically improves starting after an oil change, but I'm sure the thinner oil is helping.
