7" of snow last night, and there's supposed to be a quarter-inch of ice tonight. The SDL is plugged in, so the snow doesn't build up on the hood too much, and the instant heat is nice. It handles nicely in the snow, except for the problem of not liking hills. Luckily I can usually plan a level route to work. I should take a picture...

And after this I'm really wondering about the block heater.
Two glow cycles and it fired up and idled dead smooth this morn.
Tomorrow I'll try one glow and see how it does. It darn sure wouldnt keep the hood free of snow...

Snow...I like it, but I hate it at the same time...

I love driving in it, my cars like to play in it, have a lot of fun drifting around, experimenting with ABS, ESP, ASD etc.(ESP is especially cool as you can literally feel the car try to correct itself).

As far as the best cars in the snow? My two diesels take the cake. Once you get those S-Classes rolling, its still very difficult in snow and ice to break their grip. Hills, on the other hand; that weight tends to hinder their performance at low speeds going up slight inclines. The 350SD is better overall though, since it has ASD.

All this talk of snow made it snow here! Not much, but enough to tickoff the highway drivers and cover the leaves in my yard.

Nice and warm @ 16*f right now. I can't wait to see how well my new glowplugs help start @ 6am!

wolfwalker, you must live around Dortches or Enfield! My old stomping grounds....BBQ capital of the world--that area....Bob Melton's, Cherry's in Farmville, Parker's in Wilson, and of course Pete Jones down in Ayden. Worth every bit of the drive---even from my home now of Greenville, SC.

More ice last night. Schools closed for second day. Glad for my dad's F-250 4 x 4, only way I could get to work today.

I am thankful that Hildegard hasn't entured out of the garage since last week!

Snow/ice around Washington DC...

The '83 240 has...by default...become the winter car ("beater" not in my vocabulary).

A more-than-OK snow/ice car, once you get the feel of it.

BTW, amazing the number of NICE '60s / '70s Benzes I see on bad days which are evidently the "snow cars" of rich folk in Bethesda, Great Falls, and Potomac.
