'83 240D - Heater Control Valve Is leaking

My heater control valve that is on the firewall is leaking. This one has the manual valve that is controlled by two cables going to the rotary temperature dials on the control panel. Is there a rebuild kit or some common O-rings for this malady, or will I have to buy a new valve (I priced one at a local specialty shop for $60.00 - any suggestions for cheaper?). Also, one of the dials does not have full range of travel from hot to cold (will not go all the way back to cold) and the slide on the right controlling the floor vents does not have full travel either way (kind of stuck in the middle portion of its travel). Any suggestions on these minor problems appreciated also.

FastLane has the valve for $45.57 and it ships today. I do not know the recommended procedure for removing these. When I did mine, I snipped off the plastic levers from the old valve. This made it easier to remove the cable loop from the levers. The looped end of the cable just pops over the new arms. While you have the valve out of the car, you may want to make sure the cables both slide freely. There should be nothing to prevent full range movement. Lube them up and then install the new valve.

Heater Control Valve Repair

Don't buy the replacement vave.
Instead, find a local business that sells "O" rings.
Take the valve with you and have it disassembled.
Save the "trashed", "O" rings for measurement purposes.
Purchase the "O" rings and have fun.

I replaced all four "O" rings for 95 cents. The dealer
wanted $ 150.00 for a new control valve.

Hope this helps.
