What to look out for

I have a little experience with W126s, but I am looking at a 1987 300SDL, and I want to know what to look for when taking it for a test drive. My 1981 300SD has a good transmission and engine, so I know what sounds unusual in it. But what's unusual for a 87 300SDL? I know how the MB trannies shift, but what noises should I be on the lookout for, and where should I look on the body for problems? I just need a basic checklist you could say for a W126 to make sure this one is okay. If I look at it, I'm most likely taking it to my indy to get it checked out and see whether or not it has problems. I almost had another SDL with a bad engine and transmission, but luckily, the indy told us about it, and the owner was selling it for $2000 less in the newspaper a week later. So, I'm waiting for that W126 checklist!
