There is a company called Rostra that makes both oem CC parts and aftermarket kits. I contacted them a while back and they had a unit that was servo driven, like the MB electronic unit, for $230. Granted you would have to deal with/install both the new control panel or stalk (optional) and the control unit/actuator but this system likely would work much better and more reliably than the stock unit. Certainly it is much cheaper than repairing the stock unit and you get the benefit of a modern digital design. I haven't ordered as I don't have the cash for it, yet. RT

Right now the CC is the least of my worries. It's now near the bottom of my list of things to fix first. It seems when I see a thread in the forum that applies to me, I subscribe to them to get some answers that I may be able to use down the line.

I had all the switches mounted, everything i needed to get my idea functional. As goes with my luck, the actuator worked like cr@p when i got it, worked *perfect* when I rebuilt it. Whwn i got everything setup for my external test build, the actuator strips the main gear!

Oh well, I'll have to save the project for another day. I can't afford to look for a replacement since I got it from the only scrapyard OM617 I have ever found in Tulsa.

Unhappy Mercedes in the wrecking yard?

I've never seen one in this area. If I need many parts for one of my projects, I just start looking for a wreck of the same model.:p Last parts car I bought has been of so much use to me, I think I need to buy a few more.
