Group Buy??? Special Corner Lights

hey I was just wondering who would be interested in doing a group buy on these smoked corner lights. im not one for ricing out any car but i really like these and think they may look good on my car. right now they are $84 for a pair, but im sure we can talk him down if we have a group purchase.

who is interested?!

that was one of the first things i did to my w123 years ago - mine are clear, not smoked...i love them, i often say if i had to rent them, i would.

any way - if no one bites on a group buy i see them all the time on ebay for like 30 bucks (clear) i would like another set to mess around with and make it better to me...

i take the amber bulbs, dip them in high temp silver paint (on the front) like 1/2 to 3/4...when they are on they look like a circle from straight on and match the headlamps better, not a big hunker yellow shape in the front of your car...

fyi - if you know this - sorry...
in europe these lights only activate when signaling a turn, there is no amber corners on all the time - just headlamp.

also you can tint things very easy - but good tint will cost more than these lamps, not the testers stuff - real clear coat tints.

hey jake, thanks for your advice.

i really want the smoked ones, but the price difference isn't really enough to justify them. otherwise ill probably just buy the $31 clear corners from him.

the only draw back is i heard they aren't great quality. they wear out pretty fast. have you noticed that? but really, at $31 that's nothing to replace every couple years.

well i may be able to help you out - i can check to see if i have enough/any black tint around...

when we do custom work on mostly FWD stuff we get those ****ty alteza, apc chromed asia tail lamps and then spary tint them red to get the "cool" detail with out the super cheese look...we tint them body colors too...ill see if there is any black if you want...

as far as bad quality i can not say that these are - they were from Bekkers and around 100 bucks too, the part that did suck was the seal, i resused the oem one. mine are still in great shape six years latter.

what wears out??? i have a european car and had to modify these to work (plug type), but i have to modify everything.

if i were you i would drop the 84 bucks and be happy - theyll look great on the dark estate...or get the clears and testors tint and try that - clear it with AUTOMOTIVE GRADE CLEAR, not crfat/krylon clear. wash them with dish soap first, Dont ever touch it with raw skin, prepsol and clean it real well before you spray. (if you know how to spary - im sorry to rant)

I bought the clear ones off ebay for my wagon... Yes, they are fairly crappy quality, but for the thirty bucks I guess I can't complain. They look a hell of a lot better than the yellow ones, in any case (especially with the grille painted black and the headlight doors painted silver).

If you could talk him down to the $50/pair range, I'd go in on it, assuming they're good quality. Hard to tell from a picture, of course...

Anyone out there have a photo with these lights on their car? It'd be great if we could see what a W123 would look like with them before buying.

They aren't the smoked ones, but here's mine. I don't think the smoked ones would look too good with the current color of the car, but some day I plan on having it repainted a darker color. Probably not black, but I'd be happy with anything besides the current color (if it is a color - people describe it "tan," "cream," "yellow...ish," and/or "uh, is it dirty?" I guess it's supposed to be "ivory").

Clear corner lights just make it look so much smoother than those glaring yellow things that were there before. (If only I could do something about my taillights - a nice lighter and clearer shade of red would be better than the stock dark red/amber combo.)

as far as tail lamps - at school all the early renderings and sketches of cars had/have solid red tail lamps...

so i tinted two pair, one body colorish blue / black and out grew that within a summer, and the pair now is solid red...

i really like the solid/uniform look of it, reverse at night is a bit ruff as i have "pink" lights.

Jake

oh-the little picture under my name of my w123 shows the clear corners with the early euro headlamps and dark metalic grey grill.

jake thanks for the offer. i just bought the clear ones and ill see how i like them. maybe ill take you up on your offer later on.

here is a picture of the clear corners with euro lights.

also there's a neat picture on the front of the performance products catalog of a anthracite w123 coupe with euro lights, clear corners, a bizarre grill with no hood star (never seen this grill before, but it is pretty), AND side marker blinkers in the fender walls.

$30 clear corners, I can't complain about their quality, but they were not plug-and-play, the running lite wasn't set up to work (they are Euros)
The headlight is a flat face Bosch or Hella (not sure which right now) and the fogs were converted to Hella H4 headlights (low beam on fog, high beams on high beam)
