Lance, I have all of those parts, the bearing can be had at any parts house, no need for dealer.
Call me this week.

"Crap, you should've said something when here, I have some new radiator drain plugs. They're cheap. At least you can use a bolt for now though (with an O-ring on it.)"
I'll just steal the one out of my 240's old radiator. I'm going home for some sleep. Being awake for 28 hours stright is not the safest thing when working with an 800lb engine hanging 4 feet in the air. ![]() I've got the clutch installed, oil cooler lines are on, all the needed fluids are on hand, and the 240 is inside the shop begging for an engine. I forgot the TD's driveshaft and flexdiscs, now I have to crawl outside in the freezing wind to get them.

If anyone is interested. I have a 4 speed trans from a 78 240D and pretty much all the parts you'd need to convert to a 4 speed. The 4 cylinder was shot in mine so I bought a donor 300D and put the 5 cylinder and automatic into the 240. I have the trans (no idea of the condition), shifter, clutch pedal,
trans crossmember, long driveshaft, master cylinder, and radiator. I might even have the switch at the shifter that turns backup lights on. I'll take $300 for the whole shebang. Don't have a clue how expensive shipping would be but it would be a bear I'm sure. Still have the 300 donor car and a lot of good parts.

OK been reading through all this and found something I want to ask about:
Quote:
If not, does anyone have an extra adapter they're willing to part with?

From about '72 or '74 till '85 the bell housing was the same (except for the 602/603 engine, but that wasn't until 1985 and on.) For the 123 diesel, the BH was the same bolt pattern. No apaptions needed (the plate should be the same - found this out AFTER removing a few.) If you MUST have an adapter plate, I do have one (or two??)

Tom
What about the alignment pin showing on his bottom, left, photo. I think hes talking about the adaptor plate between b/h and eng. I thought they were all the same too, now I'm really confessed. I do know the 5 speed tranny has such an alignment pin and needs its "own" adaptor plate, the bolt pattern was the same tho.

" you can just press that pin out, the bolts will align well enough as is."
AARRG... probably didnt need to crawl under the doner car out in the mud and rain to swap the adaptor plate (pull flywheel, clutch, lose bolt in mud) for my 5 speed instulation ..live and learn, thanks
