i am getting

the itch to pull the brand newly rebuilt 240 motor out of my 82 and put in the 617 turbo from the shaggy 82 300cd. of course with the fiver from my euro 280 that has been flooded.

or just put the fiver behind the 240 motor.

probably will just think really hard about it til i get tired of it.

that is the nice thing about getting old. when your young you act on the impulses and after spending all that time energy and money....THEN you get tired of the car and want to sell it off to do it all again. when you are old you get tired of it before ever actually doing it and save a lot of bother!

What's even crazier the fuel comes from the same supplier on Swan Island.

3.09 here at the local pump (pretty standard)
Its more expensive in portland. I just dumped 8 gal WVO in my tank to make a trip to eugene and back. No problems at all (waiting for a switchover valve for 2nd tank WVO system).

partial obsession

I am not a total diesel addict, I like a good gasser as well as the next guy, but, if it won't cost me more, I usually will prefer to drive a diesel.

I really like my 300SD, but for performance, nothing I know of will beat my Grandma's 95 C1500 2wd Chevy with a V8, 6.0L Turbo Detroit Diesel. That truck is sssssooooooooooo cool! It sounds like a semi, and even when you're doing 85 down the freeway, it still sounds like a diesel (and may I add, a very loud one!) As far as take-off is concerned, this baby will squeal tires when you're not even trying to!

Why doesn't MB build a big-block SL class diesel? Even the utilitarian Detroit Diesel 6.0 Turbo would be enough to make an SL600D that wouldn't be able to keep its tires on the pavement!

I can honestly say that I am not obsessed with Mercedes diesels.....

It all started with a 1985 300D, then I drove a 2005 320CDI , then I bought a 1999 E300......now I am looking for a W124 diesel and a W115 diesel. I frequenstly break out into cold sweats that have a sulfur smell. I have visions of Unimogs, too. Now my wife says that I have this clattering sound.

I have tried consoling, but after the blood test from the physical revealed that I had diesel fuel instead of blood the consoler said that I was hopeless.

Obsessed, certainly not!

I'm losing my obsession with all diesels. Can't get enough WVO and diesel/biodiesel are too expensive.

I forgot a few on the list a W116, W120, W121..........

Hey, Santa, I know there is not enough room in the garage, but you can park them in the basement. The walk out door is big enough. There is enough room for all five plus a few more.

Lets see in October I had 2 Toyota gas pickups, 1 Grand Am, and 1 Chevy Tahoe gasser.

I bought an 89 Jetta because the tranny on the GA went out, found out about WVO and now only my son's 4x4 Toy runs on gas.

As for sound the Jetta is quieter, the Cummins sounds way cooler, but there is a very throaty sound to my SDL that I just love. Which car am I most likely to still own in 20 years? The Merc hands down.

I got addicted almost immediately I am sure. My dad was a heavy duty mechanic all his life. I don't think he owned a shirt that DIDN'T smell like diesel. Until I got the Jetta I had forgotten how fast that smell brought back memories.
