Hi Mike.

Seats should be interchangeble.

The SD is the same engine as the TD.
So yes, it should fit without modification.

Louis.

The 300D and 300TD use the same front seats. The 300TD/300SD transmissions are not the same -- don't even try it.

Mike, what junkyard are you going to?

There's a Pick n' Pull in Newark that at least had a couple of 240D's with intact interiors. One of 'em was even a 4 speed

According to a friend of mine (Josh; Ibe300D on here), as of the last time he went, the Pick n' Pull in San Jose didn't have any worthwhile M-B offerings...

Hope that helps...good luck!

Also, I have to ask - why is the 126 tranny different than the 123 tranny?

At the very least, the speedometer connection is different. The 126 has an electric speedometer while the 123's is mechanical. Lance, who is moving from Oklahoma to Denver (I forget his username), has done this very same swap and has a non working speedometer and odometer as a result.

Both are interchangable. I have the foront seats from an 83' 240D AND a transmission from an '84 SD in my TD. The speedo is different in the SD so plan ahead to live without one.
