A couple of weeks ago, a friend replaced my brake pads on my 1980 300sd.

He has done them for me for several years but this time, there is a problem. The yellow brake pad wear light stays on and he double checked and all the sensors are in place.

Could there be a simple solution for this? Thanks

mine too is turned on all the time but i too have all good pads. sorry i couldnt help you. let me know what was the matter with yours.

Ours too on the "82 300D. Replaced the pads. Brakes work fine. Light stays on.

My daughter's 240D did the same thing. The warning circuit goes thru the Seatbelt warning buzzer unit under the drivers dash. I swapped it out with the TD unit and the lights all are correct now.
Actually it is probably the test circuit part of the warning light. The resistor and diode on the back of the instrument cluster grounds to the charge indicator light which is actually grounded in the "warning module" as Mercedes calls it or the "seatbelt warning buzzer" as Fastlane lists it.

Its actually a control/timming/routing unit for the warning lights in the dash.

there were actually brake wear indicators that required replacement along with the brakes. Ordered them form Fast Lane, I think, and they were very inexpensive- I think I paid $15 for all 4 or so.

Maybe yours is different?

Another thing to check is the brake fluid level in the reservoir. When changing pads if you force the pistons in the caliper in all the way (in order to insert new pads) some fluid can be pushed out of the reservoir, lowering the level and making the light come on. Pull the plugs on the reservoir to see if that is the source of the warning indicator.
