A CC Amp question

I was at the local yard the other day and wants to make a deal on the CC amp in an 84 SD. The parts guy says he has an entry in his books that says that you need the matching plug or relay or something from the same car in order for it to work.

Anyone know what he is talking about?

Never heard of such. A 14 pin amp is a 14 pin amp as far as pluging and bolting in. There are different amps for different cars. About all I know for sure is an 83 SD and an 83 SEL gasser used the same amp.
