Electric sunroof frozen W123

What am I gonna have to do?
It is stuck closed, motor makes noise but no movement.
Do I need to rip out the headliner?
The manual operation bolt in the trunk wont move it either...
Any advice is sure appreciated

If you have checked out all the sunroof threads, you should know that to gain access to the sunroof, the interior sunroof headliner is attached to the sunroof by 5 or 7 "spring" fasteners. I'd make up some pullers similar to the pullers used to remove the instrument panel and pull that headliner down and hope you don't rip it. If you make 4 of the pullers and have a buddy help you, you just might be able to pull liner down successfully. Worst case, you'll need to find a parts car with the same color interior as yours and get a used sunroof headliner. The pullers would be inserted in front of the headliner

In theory...

Supposedly according to my manual if the cable i sin the motor when it dies you can extract it by taking off the tranmission plate on the back side of the motor and removing the cable from the gear. It sounds like your gear is stripped in the motor. I would attempt to access the motor in the rear. Unbolt it and then see if you can slip it off the cable. Eithyer the cable is busted and it wil come out the rear with the motor or the motor is stripped and it will slide on the cable.
Either way you get the thing out.
If the cable is broken I would think you could force the sunroof open from the top of the car.
Sequence (someone check me here) would be to push down on the back of the roof from above while helping it backwards.

I'm just throwing things out here and cannot say for certain that any of these things will help you for sure.

Thank you folks
for your suggestions.
I was considering force to get it open, so I could see what was going on, though it is really closed tight.
If only it had failed half way open...
I will spend the afternoon in the trunk working with the motor.
Hopefully if it is that gear it is changeable...

I appreciate all you MBZ lovers giving advice, great site here,
I doubt I will ever own a different kind of car.
BTW, mine is headed for veg oil conversion,

You mostly probably already know about this forum for SVO,
but just in case, it is a great one! -
