How can I attach a hand vacuum pump to my car's vacuum pump or booster?
On a '79 300SD, there are no smaller hoses going off of the main vacuum line which runs to the booster, which seems to be the way others attach theirs. Do I need some kind of adapter to make my hand pump work or do I just go off other small lines while the car is running? I know this is a stupid simple question for some, but I'm lost.
Thanks David

Just went through debugging the vaccum pump, Mityvac comes with several sizes of end fittings. One of them will fit the metal hose openning quite well.
I found my vaccum pump is slow to pump up (probably internal check valve leaking. This is observed by hooking up the boost /vaccum gage to the trany vaccum line, so I can monitor the vaccum under all driving conditions. After replacing the vaccum pump: This solved my brake problem. Every morning backing out of drive way, the brake is much less effective. Put in new master and renewed rear brake caliper and all new brake lines. Some improvements but still not quite right. Almost repaced the booster bomb, but decided to wait for the proper diagostic. After the vaccum pump replacement, it is perfect even in the early morning. Another thing I observed is that the oil pressure seems to be higher than before (used to be 1 and quarter bar, now 1 and half bar when hot). This also makes the trany behavior much more stable.

Mine isn't a mityvac, but a similar pump and it doesn't have any adapters. Would any stores sell the adapters?
Thanks David
