300D temp gauge questions

hey every1
300D 1978
279000 miles

i had recently replaced the aux temp sensor and flushed the radiator with new coolant. 6 months later, the temperature gauge always jumps when ever it hits the 100C mark or 200F mark on my car; and it always jumps to the 250F or 120C mark. (this is normal operating temps for my car by the way). i did notice that there is another temperature sensor on the engine block itself, right next to the injection pump..right under the injector heads. its on this side of the engine block where there are 2 sensor plugs..the one that is closes to the front of the engine (next to the accessory belts) i believe has to do something with the glow plug system. The one thats right next, further back is the temperature sensor. I know this because when the car was hot after driving it, i unplugged that sensor and the temperature signal dropped to 0 on the gauge..

i just wanted to know if anyone has replaced this sensor before and if so what is the part number and how much do they usually cost?

thanks
allen

The temperature sensor is the one that is next to air filter, EGR and, facing the engine, to the left of the timimg chain cover.

Call Phil, at Fastlane, and he can help u. It is a simple screw off and screw on. REPLACE ON A COLD ENGINE. U don't want hot coolant all over u.

I would suggest u replace ur water thermostat. That is next to the temp sensor. May solve ur high temp problem.

Also, use only MB coolant or Honda coolant. The other after market ones do not do a good job.
