300D Coolant Pump Pully

1991 Euro 300D 3.0L Diesel.

Got this car last year. Found that it didnt have a viscous fan on it. Thought that coz its winter now i dont really need it.

Summers coming now and the temperture goes up while stationary. Bought a 2nd hand fan and found that it doesnt fit. Although it is the right part for the engine. (602)

Ive fount that there is a 10m or so "nipple" in the middle of the pully. This is in the way when tring to install the fan.

Ive included some images of how this looks and where abouts this nipple is. I rekon that coz this car has had a smack before now they couldnt be arsed putting the fan back on and just left it with this nipple on here. I think this thing is the remains of a past fan that was attached to the pully.

Went to a MB INDY parts place and they dug out a 124 Diesel coolant pump. I put up my fan to this pump and found that the thing bolts on perfectly. yet i cant get even close to the one on the car.

Can anyone shed any light on this or include pictures of any 124 diesel coolant pump pullys without the fan on?
