2005 E320cdi
so, i haven't purchased a new benz in some years. i have 1979 6.9. a 1986 560sel, 560sec. a 1995 e320cab. and a 1997 c140.
i rented a e270cdi 2 years ago in france. a blast and a half. cleaned a new maser in the alps. nothing like compression braking. so, i am thinking of acquiring this newly introduced diesel. it is pricey. on the other hand, i found it fun to drive. it isn't anything new as it has been available in europe for several years. all the same, things seem to happen to benzes when they enter this country. perhaps it is a dealer thing. anyone have any opinions on becoming the first owner of one of these diesels? all ears. |

So far the only two people I know of that have bought the new E320 CDI just love them. They are amazed at car that can get 40 mpg +, depending on size of shoe , and be so fast. One guy says there is no Toyota Avalon/Lexus that can even come close to comfort, mileage, or speed.
I'm going to do a test drive of one in the next week or two and may step up from VW TDI. I'll post my findings here after driving the car. Wonder if I should show up for test drive in the 240D or the Jetta diesel??? I would rather part with the Jetta, but do I want the wife driving a new Benz to the college parking lot?
