Smile just bought my first diesel

just got an 84 300TD today. It's been sitting for a while so I'll be checking all the fluids before trying to start it. Also plan to squirt a little oil of AFT in the GP holes, and check/drain the fuel filters.

The injection pump seems to be siezed up. I can't get the throttle linkage to move. It flexes a little when you step on the pedal or try it by hand. It feels like the linkage is frozen down below by the fuel pump.

I saw the ATF trick posted a couple of times so I will try that...

Is it common for the linkage to get gummed up and tight from sitting. Have the pumps ever been known to freeze up?

Yes I did the search functions but maybe I didn't use the right buzz words? What is the proper term, fuel pump, injection pump, injector pump, ?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing with the old beast. I have plans for a WVO cruiser!

Thanks for any insight...
