That was a w116 450SEL 6.9, with a 6.9 liter V8.
The added in fake smoke when the car was doing its 270 degree spin..
But the burnout is real
They really throw that car around in that chase scene...the back end is all over the place.
Impressive nontheless..
there is one of those cars sitting over on the other side of town in a front yard..
wonder if they would take 10 bucks for it

I just saw "Meet the Fockers" today. In the first scene where they pull up to the Fockers driveway in the bus, there is a nice W123 sitting there.

The late great John Frankenheimer put a 6.9 in Ronin because it was his favorite car. I think this was mentioned in an interview on the DVD.

I don't doubt it...it gave that w116 a lot of movie magic praise..
Nothing says "I like this car" like having it do a 270 degree spin in reverse

In the movie S.W.A.T., there is a scene where a bus is carrying some dangerous prisoners to another prison, and in one frame, there is a white 124 driving in front of the bus. Not sure if it was diesel or gasser, but the body and color was my car exactly. It was by far the most exciting part of the movie for me.

In this movie called "Brown Sugar", there's two W123s in it, a good looking 300TD in a flashback to the year 1983 since I'm sure they never sold 240TD or gasser wagons here, and a 300CDT, parked on the street behind a guy being interviewed.

There's a birth control commercial out, I'm not sure which brand, in which an analogy is made between finding the 'right' pill and finding the 'right' boy. The protagonist is shown on dates with various wrong men, and then we see her happily laughing with the 'right' boy (which I guess means she'll soon need those littlepills)... and the boy of choice appears to be driving a w116 or w123 -- i.e. the right car

The right boys always drive W123s... if only so many of the young ladies here could figure that out. They think it's all about the W140s and W220s now.

Didn't Stephanie Powers drive a 300 diesel wagon in the series Hart to Hart?

Naomi Watts drives a Black W123 300TD Wagon with limo-tint in the indie film We Dont Live Here Anymore, which was released this past summer. There are considerable amounts of footage that include the car. The Film also stars Mark Ruffalo. Check out the official We Dont Live Here Anymore websiter for the trailer, in which the 300TD is being driven in, walked away from, etc.

'Blow'

'Blow' a movie from 2000 or 2001, Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz, the scene where Johnny Depp gets shot in the shoulder. The bad-guy Colombians drive up to the motel (where our hero is waiting to do a drug deal) in a diesel Benz, you can clearly hear the 'clatta-clatta' on the soundtrack. It's either a W116 or a W123.
