Throttle linkage question
I've searched but with no luck. On a 1980 300SD there are two rods with a (approx) 90deg angle to them that operate the throttle. at the elbow it seems that they would be connected but mine are not and one is just kind of floating.
I have not been getting full power and was looking for a loose hose when I discovered this. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or does anyone have a picture or diagram of the throttle linkage? TIA |

Hi Koop , do the two rods connect through a rubber pivot ? Throttle setup is pretty straight forward once you know all the lengths the adjustable rods are supposed to be. First make sure that the pivot and support bushings are all in good shape. They're made of nylon and do wear out after a few hundred thousand miles

Kyle,
I have the same problem on the same model year car, '80 300TD. Would you mind emailing me the info also? The problem with having this normally aspirated version is most of the info does not help with this setup. Thanks so much, Jimmy L

Thanks Kyle and Jimmy, it was a sheared bushing, so the rod on the right in the picture was just hanging loose and not rotating when the throttle was applied.
The bushing in question is located at the bottom of the bracket with the "stop" sticker in the picture. What would that be called and short of a junkyard where could one get that piece. |

Hi Koop and Jimmy , the bracket is called the stop lever I believe, I had to replace mine a few years ago , while I waited for the part to come (from the dealer) I used a hose clamp to tie them back together.
