I got my monarch 261s installed, balanced and in the car. No more nailing at idle and the engine seems more smooth and quiet through out the while rev range.

Now that I have all the tools I am planning to start rebuilding injectors for others. PM me if interested.

where did you get the different thikness shims?

Did you set your rebuilds high to compensate for settling?

how close could you get them?

For my set I canabalized a spare set of injectors I had for shims. I am buying a shim assortment for rebuilding other's injectors.

I set them all between 135 and 140 BAR.

Good to hear you are having good results with the Monarchs. If I don't get something custom, I'll probably go with some of these especially since Sean is right near by home where I can drop in.

How much are you charging for this? I might need to service my injectors soon, but I'm not sure what I want to go with.. 261 vs 265 and if I want to go all out and get AZZs (can you balance those??)

Check the link in my signature. From what I hear you loose a lot of low end torque with the AAZs. I should be able to balance them, but I think they will need different shims, so it may cost a little bit more.

My experience does not jibe with that low end torque loss. I'm not sure how many people are running them besides myself and FI, but I'd love to hear from those that have them and what they think.

Where can I buy AAZ injectors? They seem tough to locate.

bgkast,

I don't think you can balance them unless you have a special equipment that is kind of continuous flow with pressure sensing to "see" the 2 stages. There are only few shops who are able to do this here in Germany and the injectors are also pretty hard to find.
In my SD I ran them @175 bar and 25 deg BTDC timing and the car is smoother than the quietest 300 D with all stock.
Starting is also much better (especially on veggie).

I try to set up the AAZ to 180 bar with the custom made 3 flat nozzles I recently found, but this will take till mid January.

I have one set of AAZs for sale in case someone is interested (would make sense to wait for the results in combination with the new nozzles).

Tom

Yes. But these will only fit in the 61x heads not in the 60x.

Sean installed 265 nozzles on my two sets of AAZ's and said he balanced them also- one set at 150 bar and the other at 145. My car is very very quiet, but since there had been no dyno testing, and no back and forth changing I have no proof that they increase hp. They feel like they gave a slight bit more, but I will not vouch for that.

Not sure. When i installed them #3 knocked bad. I let it go for a few months, thinking it might settle in or something. Finally i swapped the injector nozzle to a different injector body. Still no change in noise. I then received another from DG and put it in its place and its been quiet ever since.
