Auto Transmission Mods
I have a friend in the performance transmission business, I've been talking to him about "loosening up" a torque converter for me.
Seems my '87 300D launches out of boost, I'm thinking a couple-hundred RPM higher stall speed will help me to launch in the boost and significantly help the 0-20. It'll likely hurt the top-end a little, but with a 2.65 screw it won't be much. The '87 190Dturbo seemed to develop more power off-the-line with 2.65 gears, might be a TC difference. I don't want to re-gear, and I like the auto-tranny, any thoughts on the TC change?

I think a VNT turbo would be a better value. You'll get lots of torque way down low.

I have interest in transmission mods as well. Converters, etc, etc.
Keep me posted on what you figure out or try out. I hope to get on the 300D this late month with mucho power planned. I finally have the interior and exterior good enough to move on to engine, suspension, and trans work now. ![]()
