You mean like the 129 251 06 05 case I already bought thinking it was an LSD? Got it.

So now I need a Quaife, my wife will hate you.

Um.... Maybe. If it came out of an W124 chassis with M104 engine and ABS, you're golden. I've never converted a 185mm car to a 210mm diff but at a minimum you'll need to swap the input flange (hope it's the same spline size) and axle shafts.

If your wife asks, I know nothing! Bad news is the Quaife runs ~$1300, good news is it has no clutches to wear out and comes with a lifetime warranty even under racing/competition use.

My 300D went in for alignment today at the dealer, everything came back "green" on the printout which is great. This was the first time I've driven it for any length of time on the freeway, and I found another odd quirk with the 6mm pump. Very little throttle is used to maintain ~70mph. That in itself is no big deal, but in traffic and not using cruise control, I found it difficult to roll back on the throttle after lifting... the car would want to jump forward. I had to be really careful about just barely touching the pedal after lifting. Kinda strange. Maybe leaning out the ALDA will help that a bit. When Casey and/or Kurt get their 6mm pumps installed and running, I'm curious if they experience a similar phenomenon...

The cruise handles this extra "gain" well and without surging?

There was a scuffle over the forum removing links to Dave's website, I'm guessing that Dave might have pushed the issue, moderators pushed back, and this is the result.

Unfortunately, as I consider Dave to be one of the most reliable and dependable assets (formerly) of this forum, I will follow his expertise to his new lair. His contributions will be sorely missed here regarding 124s IMO.

Many people here have information on these cars, Dave has always been one of the few who will only post correct information. If his crime is to post PDFs that are no longer available (not being sold, therefore no harm / no damages) then I hope that he is asked politely to return.

For what it's worth, my experiment has yeilded a 1mpg improvement so far (still winter fuel, put it in last October), excellent driveability, 75mph is about 600* and 8psi. The cruise-control is a bit on the aggressive side as it isn't calibrated for the higher power from less pedal movement, but it seems to only surge once when RESUME is hit (as it drops the pedal a bit too quickly), then it quickly settles down.

I'm looking forward to a 6mm pump as more information is revealed on Dave's modifications.

He went to STD, but I'm hoping that everyone will work things out here.

I have been following this thread very closely (checked daily) and learning a lot. If someone creates a place for people to get information for FREE without doing anything wrong, what's the problem? He's putting all his data on HIS system which will not take up space here. Sounds like a win-win to me. Also having someone who will share all his trials, errors and knowledge makes it all the better.

... GSXR is not banned.
he changed the wording under his name to banned. because the management will not allow any linking to his website for copyright protection of the company...
I'm bothered by this decision... but it's his to make.
perhaps he can get permission to post the information on his site, and link it to ours, but until then, the copyrighted information on his page cannot be allowed on this site.

This is very sad if we have lost Dave. His wisdom will be missed by all W124 owners. I always check out a tread if GSXR has a post on it and like many I have been checking on this tread every day to see how both of you guys are doing with your IP progress. I rarely post just so I dont clutter what you have going on. I would love to have a link if Dave has his own thing going on please feel free to PM or email me. I am not a huge fan of STD I feel its a little more opinionated and a little less factual.

I'm currently very happy with the setup.

However, if I keep the loud-pedal matted, I get to about 1200*C at around 90mph. This being without smoke, so it's probably not over fueling nor severly retarded EOD.

In many cases, more boost pressure means more heat, but some here are saying that more boost will create more air and thus run lower EGTs. Is this the case with the IDI engine? I am currently around 18psi, Dave's running more boost from the same turbo so I could turn it up to 20 if that'll cure my high EGT (trying to avoid the complexity of designing/installing a good aftercooler).

I feel it also important to mention that my off-boost power is so sharp, that I have virtually no low-end lag. I attribute this to the 3.5L pump and its torque settings. I can get a black puff from stomping on the throttle, but squeezing it on yields no significant smoke. After having several of these, loving the power but even with a maxxed-out ALDA the stock engine is like stepping on a ripe banana, it is nice to have the car jump with a touch of the pedal for a change. The boost is up to around 10psi by 2kRPM, and by 3kRPM I'm on the wastegate at 18.5psi. It does jump pretty quickly from 2k to the stall speed (which is just above full-boost RPM so the engine tachs up quickly for the launch).

Oh, and the turbo shriek between about 8psi and 10psi gets annoying at freeway speeds, almost enough to justify putting the AFM back in the intake flow. I don't know how anyone can stand it with a cone filter right on the turbo inlet!
