That went quick ...
I still have PLENTY of springs for sale, however, the general feel is that folks want the entire unit rebuilt vs. re-building theirs. I am investigating trying to get another cache of core OFVs or finding the 7 or so in my garage. |

Just thought I'd add my data point, since I found it interesting...
My '85 wagon was crashed into back in March, so it was down for a couple months while I waited on the insurance company and then rebuilt the front end. One of the things I added while doing the other work was this performance spring. So unfortunately I didn't get to experience the instant performance upgrade, made worse by having to iron out a few kinks in the engine. One of the kinks was a nearly complete lack of boost, which I feared was a cooked turbo or internal damage due to the oil cooler breaking in the crash (only lost about a cup of oil though). So basically I was driving around with no boost unless I really stomped on it, and I have to say the car was still completely drivable thanks to this spring. The car was pretty sluggish off-boost before (probably somewhat due to living at an elevation higher than Denver), so I could tell the difference right there. The good news is that the boost problem turned out to be a split in the line from the manifold. Easy fix and now it really gets up during acceleration. Totally worth it. -Rog |

I'll tell you what mine does at the track when we get back there in late September. It'll be a little hard to know as I'm making several changes at the same time but I think the spring will be the biggest HP maker.

I take it these are a copy of the Tork Tek performance overflow valve sold for the Cummins engines also using the same Bosch pumps with the M12x1.5 banjo bolts?

Greazzer; Do you know what the fuel mileage penalty is with your mod overflow? My 300CD performs well now but of course more=better. However I am knocking on 30mpg and don't want to hurt that too much.
I appreciate the advice and innovations you offer us. Unlike some, your posts are never half-arsed. |

Howdy,
I do not believe your MPG will suffer in an appreciable manner. In other words, if you're batting 30 MPG, you're not going to realize 25MPG after a few tanks where you compare and contrast your mileage. If you hit 29MPG, I am thinking that should be the bottom point-- you might not be able to tell any "real" difference. Hope that did not sound like a bunch of mumbo jumbo ... |

Update:
I am down to my last 10 OFV springs. Not sure when I will get a new batch and not 100% sure I will continue selling them. So far, excluding the remaining 10, I have sold (I believe) 70. I know this last batch was 60 in number and trying to figure out the number in the last batch. It was an increment of 10. I do not recall if the prior batch was 10 or 20. So far, every single person has given the spring 2 thumbs up except one (which was the last one sold). One person claims after the install, his car was incredibly difficult to start, battery wore down while cranking and cranking, and it had little power after it did start. Plus, now a claimed possible alternator issue. Overall, no earthly clue how any of that was possibe or could be possible. The spring is a maintenance item, just like changing a sparkplug, or an air filter, or oil, et cet. It restores the proper pressure and slightly enhances it for better performance. However, I like to have full disclosure. What puzzles me is that 69 (or 79) other folks who swapped out the spring reported their car fired up just fine, no issues, et cet. I was the first person to try it out, and the operation on my car took less than 10 minutes and my car fired right up and I noticed a real difference immediately. Many folks who installed one did PM'd me and reported the same exact thing. So, because of the one hiccup, once these last 10 sell out, I will decide if I want to sell any more. Because I did these sales for the hobby and my "profit" margin was virtually non-existent, it may not be worth the risk. So, PM if you want one of the last 10. Thanks for reading. |

This is a shame... I installed your spring last month and noticed a big improvement. It sounds like that guy had fuel priming issues.

No more complete OFV's in hand. Got wiped out pretty fast, but did have one person send me a bunch as a swap for the spring. No one took me up on the core exchange for a refund. So, just springs at this point. PLEASE remember you must have the rebuildable type of OFV (14mm cap bolt on top of the 17mm banjo bolt). |

I suspect it has to do with his lift pump. A worn lift pump "could" cause these issues, but not sure how in any way that has something to do with an alternator or any other issues.
And thank you. I had no less than 50 folks who took their time to email or PM me to tell me how much better their car ran, better performance, peppeir performance, et cet. and it was quick and easy and somewhat cheap. So, down to 9 now. Thanks again |

Hi folks. I have to admit I am the one who had the problem Greazzer mentioned above. Needless to say I was giddy like a school girl when installing the new spring. Unfortunately immediately after, as Greazzer mentioned it would just crank endlessly without starting. To the point that it drained the battery. Assuming I did something wrong, I put the old spring back and got a jump from AAA. Same problem. Which obviously suggests that the spring had nothing to do with it. There is something else up with my fuel system.
For those of you who are concerned with Greazzers post earlier, please don't worry. He has been an excellent source of knowledge for a noob like me and has been thoroughly patient and enlightening to my millions of queries. I m absolutely certain his spring is not the problem so please continue buying them from him and/or supporting the r&d that goes into projects like this which are more labors of love than business ventures. On a different note. Wheb i took the OFV out a bit of fuel fell out. Which i could do nothing about but after installation and hand pumping, it seemed fine. When I primed my hand pump, it was squirting fuel out of its edges. Is this normal? I assumed it did this because there was enough fuel in the pump hence it over flowed. What are the signs of a failing lift pump? I did some digging and learned of a repair kit for lift pumps. Also, could the amount of torque applied to the OFV when I reinstalled it affect starting performance? fWIW, the car starts after 1 or 2 cranks on the average ever since I upgraded to pencil glowplugs. In fact it did so this morning as well so last evenings ordeal is still totally mind boggling to me. I would really appreciate any advice or suggestions anyone might have. Also, I will have my Indy mechanic install it today just to be safe and see if the same problems occur. Your suggestions in the mean time would definitely help in identifying potential culprits.
