Jack, I will send a PM with my number.

Fred

Good idea, why don't you and Jack touch base and figure out who is going to host it. Just post the address when the place is set so that we can Mapquest it.

Cool looking forward to this one, may be coming up with 2-3 MB's.

Hmm

Alright Guys,

We have a lot of options in Rhode Island. We could go to some gracious host(s)' house, or we could go the State Park/Ocean Drive Newport/Narraganssett State Beach/Anywhere Else route. It really doesn't matter to me, but it'd be great if we could all cruise around from one meeting place to the home of one of our gracious members. The area around Narragansset is awesome and a cruise by and under the towers and by the beach is awesome. I am up for anything guys.

If our gracious friends can't host, my first NE GTG at Colt State Park was an excellent location. Maybe meeting somewhere outside the park and cruising in together would be nice?

Also starting a mobile phone bank for help if anyone breaks down/coordinating a meeting would be a good idea.

A big thumbs up on the above- 'specially Narragansett Beach! The gtg is yet another excuse to visit my Cape retreat. I wish that there was more room there and not so far out(South Wellfleet) or I would host there. It is in the middle of the Cape Nat'l Seashore area and a wild bird preserve. Maybe when I move out there permanent I could host a Cape area gtg! Enough about that; so it looks like June 24th? I am pretty sure I can make it. I hope that my car doesn't look like a pile next to everyone else's though.

well, if I'm there you won't be alone in that dept. Blue isn't a prom queen, but certainly not a garage queen either.

We have the beginnings of a plan!

Ok everyone, Jack and I have chatted. Jack has been very generous in offering his place up as a gathering place. We could meet there, talk cars and have some grilled food. His home seems very conducive to entertaining 20 or more cars. The location is easy to get to and will be a good starting/finishing point if some choose to do a cruise to Narragansett, South County, and/or Newport. (I can't wait to see the look on collector’s face when a bunch of Benz’s hit the Newport Bridge toll!)...

So how does this sound? Any suggestions?

Regards -Fred

PS - Thanks Jack

2006 New England Meet

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the posting Fred. For those who want to do a Mapquest, here is my info. for directions.

9 Eban Slocum Rd.
Exeter, RI 02822
Phone# (401) 294-9297

As Fred mentioned, it is very easy to get to from the North or South. In regards to taking the cars on a cruise, I am located 20 minutes from Narragansett beach (Towers) and Newport, 10 minutes to historic Wickford Seaport, 25 minutes to Providence, 20-25 minutes to Point Judith and beaches.

For anyone bringing their wife and children, my wife will be with us as well as my two daughters ages 13 and 15.

Any suggestions are welcomed and encouraged. This is all about fun, friendship and cars.

My e-mail is: jtbird59@cox.net Please feel free to contact me or Fred with any questions or comments.

Here are directions to compare with mapquest. From the South: Rt 95N to Rhode Island exit 5B (Rt 102 S). Take a right at intersection with RT 102 and Rt 3 then take an immediate left at traffic light which will be the continuation of Rt 102 South (Wickford, North Kingstown). Travel approx 6 miles and you will see the Exeter Country club on your right. After passing the club you will begin to go up an incline, there will be a left turn right after a stone wall (New Road). Go left onto New Rd and count 4 telephone poles, there will be an Exeter Crime Watch sign on a telephone pole. At that sign take a left onto Eban Slocum Rd. This road is only 200 feet long and dead ends. I am the last house on the right. You will immediately know If you miss it, you will be in the woods.

From the North: Rt 95 south to Rt 4 ( North Kingstown, beaches) take exit 5B to Rt. 102 North (RI vet cemetary). Go straight for 2 miles (you will pass through a traffic light) on your right you will see "Delmyra" Kennels", begin to slow down, there will be a right turn just ahead (New Road). Take that right, count 4 telephone poles and you will see and Exeter crime watch sign, take that left onto Eban Slocum Rd. I am the last house on the right.

best regards,
Jack

2006 New England Meet

Hi Guys,

I have one correction to make in the directions I posted, it is with the directions coming from the South. The exit number in Rhode Island on Rt 95 is exit 5A not 5B.

Jack

Great!

Exeter Sounds Awesome, and can't wait for the grilled food. I work at Stop and Shop in the meat room so I'll try to hook it up with some good food. I am all for meeting in Exeter. Thanks to our gracious host and see you on the 24th!

I might come up but I'm MB-less. I have to be in Hartford the 17th and that drive really sucks a$$. I hope I'm still not too worn out from it.

Meeting Time frame

I have received a few emails from folks wanting to know what time we should meet on the 24th. I think we need to hear from our friends who have the furthest to travel. We are open to all suggestions.
Best regards,
Jack

Unless something urgent comes around (work, people who knows) I'm planning on being there. Diesel-less though. I'll come in spirit. I miss hearing the sounds of the 5-cyl OM617 turbodiesel engine.

I can still tell when one is coming my way or when one is around. It's got such a distinct diesel sound... or maybe I was too obsessed with mine
