Making another attempt at rallying the Austin and surrounding crew for a caravan, anyone going to attend the GTG?

The starbucks has a diesel pump close.

I will have the wagon filled up already. The Starbucks will do a good job filling up the drivers. I will of course already have my thermos loaded.
Does the Starbucks work for the FW folks coming is from the west?

SO, please take plenty of photos!

Sounds good, looks like it's about a two-hour drive from Hillsboro to Milano... Map

So maybe aim for a 10:00am departure? Not sure how accurate my mapping program is at estimating drive times...any input is appreciated.

I was not going to say anything because I am not sure that I will be able to make it, but if I do, I will not be going through Dallas on 35. I will be getting on 35W at Alvarado and going through Hillsboro.

It could be that I end up coming through from the East, but if so, I will be getting on 35E at Italy.

Again, it could be that I can't make it, so if there is no one else who will not be coming through Dallas on 35, then the Dallas meeting place will be good.

Dear Larry,

either way Hillsboro is just south of the junction between 35E and 35W. It is the best place for the entire metroplex. If you take either 35's south you end up at Hillsboro.

Berry Hill Farm Weather Forecast - March 3, 2007

I've run the GFS forcasting model and it looks like the weather will be perfect for the day of the GTG.

Randy, we appreciate the influence you wield with Mother Nature. Keep up the good work.

The Hillsboro location works well for all. I say that is definite. [aren't yall glad I declared that.... ] Me and Drewser3 are going to meet off of the first exit south of I-20 on I-35 on the way to Hillsboro. We will firm up the time of that meeting when the Hillsboro time is set and of course add to this thread. Any folks wanting to join just let me or Drewser3 know before the day, so we know who to wait for. [cell #'s can be exchanged via pm or email if needed]
I assume we will have a drop dead leave time, so anyone running late will know we already headed out.

A Texan doesn't put close to a million miles on a couple of 240D's in Texas without rolling through Hillsboro, or most anywhere else in Texas, every once in awhile. That's not even considering all the other cars I've driven for the last 43 years or so.

Spend a few years in Sales with a territory that includes Texas and surrounding states and you don't need too many maps.

I know very much the areas you are speaking about. I just went the long way around to say that if the meeting place is not Hillsboro, I wouldn't be able to meet up at the meeting place. Sorry for the confusion.

I have every intention of going...I plan to go, I want to go, and my wife said I can go.

So, baring natural disaster, heart attack, etc I will be at the IHop at 290/1960 around say 0900. I figured on getting some chow prior to departure.

We will need to decide which route we want to take. I've never driven to this location and there are several ways to go about it, it appears. Depends on what kind of roads we prefer. I like the idea of maximizing 4-land divided...safer and less chance of causing heartache among the locals when they have to deal with a caravan of 300 MB diesels...oh, wait a minute, there may only be two of us I guess it won't matter

Who else from the Houston area is going??

Justin, I still plan on attending, barring any unforseen hiccups....vacuum leak and all....just make sure that I'm not following too close, the brakes sometimes get really stiff....

Anywhere along 79 would be good for me, unless of course, you are planning to leave at Oh Dark Thirty, in which case, you're on your own ! ! !

Tarbe ,Ill be their at 9:30am .Yeah ,the caravan is going to be short it looks like but heck this is the first year .Next year it could be 5 or more. Maybe the Austin group is taking the same route from the half way point ,but doubt it. Someone needs to video tape some of the caravan when we get their ,a little tour down the road of MBs would be impressive for the youtube.com crowd.
