S500 or S430??

What would you people recommend? an S430 2002 with 40k on it or a S500 2000 with 60 k on it? If the price where the same and condition was the same what would people recommend? is the s500 have better control in the snow?

Unless the S 500 is a 4matic model, BOTH cars should behave exactly the same on snow.

Regardles of price, I would go for the newer S 430 with fewer miles.

The difference between an S 430 and an S 500 is really only essential when new, at the use car marketplace is non-important. Comparing two EXACT models (year and mileage) I would go fo the S 500.

But, being such problematic and unreliable cars, if I were to buy a W220 (which I sincerely doubt I will do) I will choose the newer model (this at least will provide you with the chance that a few systems have been updated).

Finally, the 2002 is a facelifted model, which has better materials and finish on the inside over a 2000.

First dont even buy a W220, buy a W140. Second if you have to buy a 220 buy the S430 because even though its slower than the S500, the S500 is the first year is caeme out and the bugs arent fixed. I had a 2000 S500 Silver on Black, gave it back before it hit 30,000 miles. IT WAS JUNK. I then UPGRADED my W220 to a W140 S500. But all in all buy the S430, unless you can buy a newer S500.

Having driven 2006 S430 and S500 models back-to-back, I would say that the decision comes down to your desire for the extra torque put out by the S500. Noticeable difference in mid-range acceleration, although the S430 is hardly slow. S500 has higher list of standard features, although most were available as options on the S430.

As they're used vehicles, I would look at their maintenance history as a determining factor.

Get the S430 and then re-badge it as the S500....hard to tell but you can then say u have a "S500"!
