2002 clk55 cab
What's the reaction from across the pond about this model only available in U.S. What's U.S. reaction to future collectability. The production number reported in MBCA mag. at 1400 pretty low.

It's a rocket!
Just picked mine up, a CLK55 AMG cab in black. I'm loving it!
Although everybody seems to say that breaking in methods are no longer applicable to these new breed of cars, I still believe in the "whip" method. So, at 150 miles, I'm up to 70mph. I couldn't help it a couple of times, and before I realized it, I was at 90 I can't say enough about this car...Power is limitless, shifting is smooth, extremely quiet for a cab, and the brakes are so linear in feel. Now I know what they mean when they say you "wear" this car. |

Congrats Techbike;
Do you plan on changing first oil at 1000 mi.? We've got similar cars, my ML 55 has 725 mi. and I'm thinking about it after dealer put a new small block in my ML 320 the mechanic recommended it. 01 ML 55 98 ML 320 87 560 SL - 17K mi. cond. 1 |

shopping for a dipstick pump now!
Thanks!
I'm definitely changing the oil at 1000 or so, depending on the oil color I guess. I'm looking for a good dipstick pump to do it with. I had one of those JCWhitney electric ones and it didn't work too well. I think I'll have to spring for something a little more than 30 bucks!:p I recently had an airplane engine remanufactured by Lycoming and they were very meticulous about break in procedures for the first 25 hours. I had to use mineral oil before switching to a synthetic blend. So, with the efficiency of the Mobil1 that's in our Mercedes engines, you'd think it would take a while longer to properly mate those rubbing parts than the usual 1000 miles...which is probably why they don't even talk about it anymore. Funny, my manual says nothing about break in but the little quick reference tabbed book does say to take it easy for the first 1000 miles. Got 210 and still pretty tight! |

This baby wants to go!
700 miles and can't wait to let her rip!
I got the topsider from the boating place.(thanks for the referral) Now, gotta find a good deal on Mobil 1. Fastlane doen't list the oil filter for this car. I guess I'll have to get it from the dealer. I had to get a wheel rebalance yesterday due to a slight vibration @ 60-75mph; smooth as silk today. Changed some bulbs to PIAA extreme whites. The H7s for the high beams are pretty close to the HIDs-a very bright white with a slight tint of blue. BTW, I found out that the manual lists the foglamps as H1, upon opening them up, they're H3s. |

coming!
Ross
I'll take some today but here's one of the reverse light bulbs I changed to 55W "Hybrids". Supposedly xenon-charged and doesn't draw any more current but twice the output. It's cery bright with a tint of blue but I'm having a little trouble with hooking up a backup sensor (It's on another thread in this forum). Daylight pix
I put corner bumper guards F&R, I don't know if they show well enough but I'm not sure if they look OK. I do need them with parking in NYC.
