92 300CE Help Please

Picked up a very nice 300 CE a couple days ago.. Had a few problems but got them sorted out.. Except that the top radiator hose has no spring in it.. I would think it should.. This morning I checked every thing and had fixed a coolent leak but the top hose was sucked shut.. Seems to me you could only suck the hose shut so many times before it had a crease and crack.. Hose is new as are all hoses and the radiator.. However I think some one put the hose on with out putting the spring inside.. Would some one go out and check the top hose on the drivers side on their 300CE and see if there is a spring inside???

Thanks.. tons..

Perhaps I should have said any one with a 90 -- 92 300 CE with the twin Cam engine.. I called the local dealer.. However their parts men are ford as they are also a ford dealership and the only mercedes parts person left so they do not know and could care less..

Gosh guys and gals thanks for the help.. Truth is this was a well DUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA thing.. Came to me in the middle of the night... The top hose does not get a spring.. (Odds are)... The relief valve in the Radiator cap was stuck... Cleaned it up and every thing was fine.. Replaced the Cap..

If memory serves me correctly, there was also a modified rad cap.

Purchasing a new one is a good idea, I have seen this problem before.

There was a modified tank.. Got that but have no clue why it was modified but parts man said it was because of a gurggle sound in the system.. Could not find the cap change.. However the vent was just stuck in the cap.... The place I got it was about 1200 feet .. I live at about 3000 feet.. Our days are warm.. Nights very cool.. Lots of temp difference between night and day here.. Problem is solved when I opened the vent in the center of the cap.. Replaced the cap..... However I did come across an intresting thing.. ... The owner before had the radiator replaced.. it was after market... paid 385 for it... It hit the fender brace that goes under it across the body... and had a leak.. Small.. I got one from Mercedes.. 229 bucks... It fit fine.. Problem solved with the small leak... Sure love the car..

Thanks for the reply..

Ken
