Thumbs up 1991 300 SEL Purchase?????

Hi:
I recently encountered a 1991 300 SEL a my local dealer. It has 72K mikles and the maintenance schedule has been followed. It appears to be in excellent shape. No dings or rust, interior is in great shape. I'm not very familiar with this model. Can anyone provide input on on the quality and longevity of this model, as compared to other MB?
Thanks,
Jim

From what I have read, the 6 cyl engine is not the best engine to have in such a large (heavy) car. For a SEL you would want an eight cyl.

Unless this is a Euro model W140...The W126 1991 300SEL has pleanty of low end torque to haul the kids around with. I owned a 1989 300SEL (m103 motor) and loved the car to death. Believe it or not there was a smaller motor put into nearly the same body the m102 motor of the 260SE. The W140 cars are the ones that some claim don't have enough juice, but upon talking with people who actually own these cars they love them. I recently test drove a 1993 320SE and It had plenty of get-up and go...mind you it wasn't a 500E but if your looking for that kind of juice well... then buy a 500E... Anyhow the 300SEL's hold firm to the Mercedes-Benz trust built name. Great car. Just my 2cents.
